Overview

Day 1: Drive from Kampala/Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park, stop at the Equator, check into lodge, and enjoy an afternoon game drive. Day 2: Morning game walk or horseback safari in Lake Mburo, then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and check into lodge. Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest, spending an hour with a habituated gorilla family, then return to lodge. Day 4: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha sector) and enjoy a game drive to spot tree-climbing lions. Day 5: Morning game drive in Kasenyi plains, followed by a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel to see hippos, crocodiles, and birds. Day 6: Drive to Kibale National Park, check into lodge, and enjoy a nature walk or relaxation. Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest, followed by a guided walk in Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary. Day 8: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe for departure.

Itinerary

Your safari begins with a drive from Kampala/ Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park, a serene and compact park with unique wildlife. The journey includes a stop at the Equator for a photo opportunity.

On arrival, you’ll check into your lodge and enjoy a late afternoon game drive

Start your day with a morning game walk or a horseback safari in the park. After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the beautiful Kigezi Highlands.

You will arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, ready to prepare for your gorilla trekking experience.

This is the day for your gorilla trekking adventure. After a briefing, you will enter the dense forest with your expert guides in search of a gorilla family.

The trek is challenging but the reward of spending one hour with these magnificent creatures is worth every step. After the trek, you will return to your lodge to relax

After a relaxed breakfast, you’ll drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, specifically to the Ishasha sector. This area is famous for its tree-climbing lions, which you’ll search for during a game drive.

The unique sight of these lions resting in fig trees is a great photo opportunity.

Rise early for a classic morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This is a great time to spot lions, elephants, and leopards. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George.

The channel is a birdwatcher’s paradise and home to a large number of hippos and crocodiles

After a relaxed breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park, known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” The drive takes you past stunning crater lakes and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and can take a nature walk or simply relax.

Today is dedicated to tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest. With a knowledgeable guide, you’ll trek through the forest, listening for the distinctive calls of the chimpanzees.

After your one-hour encounter, you’ll take a walk in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary for more primate and bird viewing.

After a final breakfast, you will begin the drive back to Kampala/ Entebbe International Airport. The journey is a full day’s drive, with beautiful scenery of Uganda’s lush countryside.

You will be dropped off at the airport in the late afternoon for your flight home, filled with memories of your comprehensive safari.
