Overview

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – rest and prepare for the adventure. Day 2–3: Samburu – rare wildlife like Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and cultural visit to a Samburu village. Day 4: Mount Kenya – scenic views of Africa’s second-highest peak and relaxing lodge stay. Day 5–6: Lake Nakuru & Lake Naivasha – flamingos, rhinos, lions, boat ride, and Crescent Island walking safari. Day 7–9: Masai Mara – iconic Big Five, Mara River, hot air balloon option, and Maasai cultural visit. Day 10–11: Amboseli – elephants under the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro and sweeping views from Observation Hill. Day 12: Return to Nairobi – final game drive and departure.

Itinerary

This expedition takes you through the very best of Kenya, from the northern deserts to the

central highlands and the famous southern parks.

Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a guide will meet you and transfer you

to your hotel in Nairobi for an overnight stay. The day is for resting and preparing for the grand

expedition ahead.

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Samburu National Reserve in Kenya’s arid

northern region. This is a chance to see unique species found only in this area, including the

Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and gerenuk. An afternoon game drive will introduce you to

the area’s rich biodiversity. You will check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy a full day of game drives in the Samburu, Shaba, and Buffalo Springs reserves. The

Ewaso Ng’iro River, which runs through the park, provides a lifeline for the animals and is a

great spot for game viewing. You can witness elephants bathing and other wildlife congregating

by the water. The day concludes with a visit to a Samburu village for a cultural encounter.

Following a morning game drive and breakfast, you will drive to the Mount Kenya region. The

journey offers stunning views of Mount Kenya, Africa’s second-highest peak. Upon arrival, you

can relax at your lodge and enjoy the serene surroundings and cooler climate. Some lodges

offer the unique experience of viewing wildlife from your room or a communal balcony.

After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its vast numbers of

flamingos and as a sanctuary for both black and white rhinos. The drive takes you through the

scenic Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, you will have an afternoon game drive where you can also

spot lions, leopards, and other animals. You will check into your lodge for dinner and an

overnight stay

After a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru, you will take a short drive to Lake Naivasha. Upon

arrival, you will check into your lodge and have the afternoon to relax or take an optional boat

ride to Crescent Island, where you can walk among wildlife.

Following breakfast, you will depart for the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive is

an adventure in itself, with a stop for lunch en route. You will arrive in time for an afternoon

game drive, immersing yourself in the vast plains teeming with wildlife. As the sun sets, you’ll

head back to your lodge for dinner and an evening of rest.

A full day is dedicated to game drives in the Masai Mara, giving you a chance to explore its vast

plains and riverine forests. You can visit the Mara River to see hippos and crocodiles or take an

optional hot air balloon safari for a stunning aerial view of the reserve. A picnic lunch in the bush

is a highlight of the day.

Spend a second full day in the Masai Mara to ensure you have seen as much as possible. Thisday can be used to revisit areas where you have seen a good concentration of animals or to

explore new areas. You can also visit a local Maasai village to learn about their culture.

After a final morning game drive in the Masai Mara, you will leave and begin the long but scenic

journey to Amboseli National Park. The drive offers a different perspective of the Kenyan

landscape. You will arrive in the late afternoon, with time to settle in before dinner and overnight.

Enjoy a full day of game drives in Amboseli, with opportunities to see a variety of wildlife. You

can visit the observation hill for a panoramic view of the park and its swamps, which attract

hippos and waterfowl. Lunch is at the lodge, with an afternoon game drive to explore the plains

and find the elusive predators.

After a final breakfast and a last morning game drive, you will check out of your camp and begin

the drive back to Nairobi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International

Airport for your flight home, filled with memories of your incredible twelve-day expedition.
