Itinerary

The adventure begins early in the morning with a transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Your trek begins at the Uwinka Reception Centre, where you’ll meet your guide before immediately starting the climb. You’ll navigate the steep, rolling slopes of the Nile-Congo Divide trail, so stay alert for the diverse wildlife and vibrant forest birds that line the path. The day ends at your first campsite, where you’ll have dinner and spend the night enveloped by the forest.

Following breakfast at camp, you’ll venture even deeper into the pristine rainforest. The path winds through remote and rugged landscape, offering a true wilderness experience. A key reward for the day’s effort is the magnificent Cyinzobe Waterfall. After taking in the view, you’ll press on to a second remote campsite for dinner and a night’s rest.

On the final leg of your journey, you’ll traverse the last stretches of the forest. The trail continues until you successfully arrive at the endpoint in the Gisakura tea plantations concluding this challenging yet deeply rewarding three-day expedition. The driver guide will be waiting for you before you drive west towards Karongi along the Kivu Belt road.

Have lunch and a relaxing evening and overnight stay at a lodge near the shores of Lake Kivu

Begin the day with a morning scenic boat ride to Napoleon Hat Island on Lake Kivu, known for its unique shape and fruit bat colony, and witness swimming cows in Lake Kivu.

In the afternoon, enjoy the transfer to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park, for an overnight stay near the park.

Early in the morning, drive to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for briefing before embarking on an exhilarating hike up Mount Bisoke, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of its crater lake.

After the descent, visit the vibrant Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for interactive cultural performances and traditional crafts, enjoying an authentic moment with the local community, followed by a lunch break and an evening drive back to Kigali!

Travel to Akagera National Park in the morning, setting the stage for your savannah experience in this unique Eastern African savannah! After checking in at your hotel, enjoy your lunch followed by a relaxed boat ride. Here, you’ll encounter hippos and crocodiles up close, all while enjoying incredible birdwatching and soaking in the breathtaking golden hour as the sun dips below the horizon.

As dusk settles, prepare for an exhilarating Night Game Drive, a true highlight where spotlights reveal elusive nocturnal creatures like bushbabies, genets, and even potential predators such as leopards or hyenas on the prowl. This unique evening immersion offers a completely different perspective of the park’s hidden wonders.
Dinner and overnight within the park

Your final day begins with a captivating game drive through the southern reaches of the park, an opportunity to spot any elusive wildlife you might have missed and soak in the vast beauty of Akagera’s diverse ecosystems.

In the afternoon after your lunch break, this remarkable Rwandan journey will conclude with a transfer back to Kigali.
