Day 1: Kampala/ Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park Your safari begins with a drive from Kampala/ Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park, a serene and compact park with unique wildlife. The journey includes a stop at the Equator for a photo opportunity. On arrival, you’ll check into your lodge and enjoy a late afternoon game drive.
Day 2: Lake Mburo to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Start your day with a morning game walk or a horseback safari in the park. After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, passing through the beautiful Kigezi Highlands. You will arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, ready to prepare for your gorilla trekking experience.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi This is the day for your gorilla trekking adventure. After a briefing, you will enter the dense forest with your expert guides in search of a gorilla family. The trek is challenging but the reward of spending one hour with these magnificent creatures is worth every step. After the trek, you will return to your lodge to relax.
Day 4: Bwindi to Queen Elizabeth National Park (Ishasha Sector) After a relaxed breakfast, you’ll drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, specifically to theIshasha sector. This area is famous for its tree-limbing lions, which you’ll search for during a game drive. The unique sight of these lions resting in fig trees is a great photo opportunity.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Game Drive and Boat Cruise Rise early for a classic morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. This is a great time to spot lions, elephants, and leopards. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is a birdwatcher’s paradise and home to a large number of hippos and crocodiles.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth to Kibale National Park After a relaxed breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park, known as the “Primate Capital of the World.” The drive takes you past stunning crater lakes and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and can take a nature walk or simply relax.
Day 7: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Walk Today is dedicated to tracking chimpanzees in Kibale Forest. With a knowledgeable guide, you’ll trek through the forest, listening for the distinctive calls of the chimpanzees. After your one-hour encounter, you’ll take a walk in the Bigodi Wetlands Sanctuary for more primate and bird viewing.
Day 8: Return to Kampala/ Entebbe After a final breakfast, you will begin the drive back to Kampala/ Entebbe International Airport. The journey is a full day’s drive, with beautiful scenery of Uganda’s lush countryside. You will be dropped off at the airport in the late afternoon for your flight home, filled with memories of your comprehensive safari.
